About/Contact
Hello.
I’m Aaron. A thoroughly disgusting amount of my time is spent writing about something, be it fiction, screenplays, scripts, or whatever enraged me about politics. Up until recently, most of this stuff has mainly been sitting in a few folders in my computer, not really doing much aside from being some data scattered around my hard drive. Then, one day, as I sat on the high-speed train to London from Canterbury, as I do most days, I thought to myself, “There has to be some way to get this stuff out there that won’t involve soul-crushing rejections.”
See, a few months ago, a friend and I determined that we were both funny individuals, and we needed to share this with people. I saw two paths in front of me: The first one, the path of the writer, was to send stories and books out to publishers/editors/agents in the hopes that there would be someone out there who shares my sense of humor and would like to use their reputable something-or-other to spread my work. Of course, this way is peppered with rejections. The second path was to throw everything I write on the internet, gratis, in the hopes that, one day, I’ll have a site that has a steady traffic of at least two people.
And then I realized something. I could easily make a third path. One that combines everything. One that, in this bizarre metaphor involving paths cutting through nothingness leading to nowhere, would actually lead to something. Possibly a Starbucks. I could throw portions of my longer pieces up on the site. Doing so wouldn’t mean that the whole piece had previously been published (apparently a sticking point for magazine editors), and I could still make some people laugh. Hopefully. And, better, I could put up all of those incredibly short pieces that I churn out. Because, hey, any schmuck can get a website, and, if nothing else, I’m at least a schmuck.
And so, Dear Reader, you have AaronCSimon.com. Have a poke around, and, more importantly, enjoy yourself.
